To push forward technological advancements and tackle key challenges in extreme data mining, aggregation and analytics, seven European projects are pioneering innovative solutions that harness artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC) and edge/fog/cloud computing. These projects are all working to ensure that humans can transform vast amounts of raw data into actionable insights that enable smarter and faster decision-making.
The seven projects, EFRA, EMERALDS, EXA4MIND, EXTRACT, GRAPH-MASSIVIZER, NEARDATA, and SYCLOPS are funded under Horizon Europe call HORIZON-CL4-2022-DATA-01-05, dedicated to finding solutions to extreme data challenges with the most cutting-edge technologies across the compute continuum. While each project pursues its own approach to this challenge, they have formed a collaborative cluster under the DATANEXUS brand to create a dynamic space for knowledge-sharing, networking and collective impact.
By meeting regularly, the DATANEXUS cluster seeks to raise awareness of the critical challenges posed by extreme data and shares insights into its solutions.

Booth and session in the 2024 European Big Data Value Forum
Workshop at the AI, Data and Robotics Association (ADRAe) and AIonDemand-hosted “Future-ready:On-Demand Solutions with AI, Data and Robotics” event
These projects will continue to pursue collaboration until they end on December 2025. One main shared result will be a white paper summarizing the need from extreme data solutions and presenting the different technologies developed during the three years of the projects.
Stay tuned for updates on the white paper and next events.
